Ground source heat pumps are a proven technology that as been in use for over 20 years in Sweden and Germany. The process is the same as a refrigerator and simply uses the solar energy that has been stored in the ground and transfers it via the heat pump into the heating and hot water storage.

Heat pumps have a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 3 to 4. This translates in to a working efficiency of, for every 1 unit of energy used (i.e. electricity to run the heat pump) 3 to 4 units can be taken out for hot water and heating.
Is it suitable for my home?
- Is there enough land available to install the external collectors.
- Is the property fully insulated (see home insulation)
